Balancing a hectic schedule of school or work on weekdays to fit in a dental appointment can be stressful. Members of our friendly and professional dental team are now available on Saturdays to address your dental and orthodontic needs. You no longer have to run the risk of endangering your dental health because your schedule doesn’t permit you to schedule a weekday appointment. You can schedule Saturday dental appointments for teeth cleaning, teeth whitening, gum disease examinations, or oral surgeries at Lovett Dental Beaumont.
Convenient Scheduling for Dental Examinations
A standard dental examination will involve both the dentist and the dental hygienist. The dentist will examine your teeth and gums to ensure that they remain healthy. If there are any signs of disease or tooth decay, the dentist may order oral X-rays to more closely examine the underlying bone and tissue. The dental hygienist cleans your teeth and imparts the dentist’s advice on the appropriate daily care to maintain optimum oral health. If you have a cavity, the dentist will fill that cavity. The dentist may suggest sealants to reduce the future incidence of tooth decay. Such dental examinations play a pivotal role in promoting oral well-being. That’s why our practice is open on Saturdays.
A Full Range of Services Available for Saturday Dental Appointments
We don’t just offer routine dental cleaning on Saturdays. If you need a tooth extraction or a root canal, you can book your Saturday appointment with one of our dentists. You may need a tooth extraction if you have an impacted wisdom tooth, too many teeth for the available jawbone or irreparable tooth decay. Depending on whether your tooth extraction is a simple procedure or a surgical one, our dentist will sedate you with a local or general anesthetic before performing the procedure. We don’t extract teeth unless it’s the last option available, and a complete examination and X-ray yields no other valid treatments.
In contrast, the root canal process involves saving the tooth after bacteria or impact damages the root. The dentist or the endodontist examines the tooth and conducts physical tests to confirm that the root is no longer viable. Then, the dentist extracts the root and cleans the interior area. Finally, the dentist replaces the root with an artificial filling that mimics the function of the root and allows you to keep your tooth. Indications that you may need a root canal include a cracked tooth, extreme sensitivity to hot and cold beverages, dark or swollen gums or pain when chewing your food. If you experience any of these symptoms, schedule a Saturday appointment for your root canal.
Handle Saturday Emergencies
Emergencies can happen any day of the week, even on Saturdays. Schedule an appointment immediately if your gums swell or you have an abscess. If the infection has reached your gums and the underlying tissue, then the dentist needs to examine the area to figure out the root of the disease and treat it. You should also see the dentist immediately if you have broken or chipped one of your teeth. If you consult the dentist quickly enough, the dentist may be able to reattach the pieces that have broken off. Even if one of your teeth falls out due to the impact, one of our oral surgeons may be able to re-implant the tooth if you schedule an appointment within one to two hours of the critical event.
Patients with braces are more likely to experience uncomfortable situations when brackets or wires become loose. While you can use dental wax to mitigate the discomfort until you are able to schedule an appointment with the orthodontist, the orthodontist can solve the problem by reattaching the bracket or tightening the loose wire.
